Translation & Transmission PART 2

-Weekly Blog

Week 5 (19/09/2021) â€‹

This week I've found a website called "the loneliness project". The loneliness project is a website where people fill and submit google forms consisting of questions asking about things such as 'when was the last time you felt lonely', 'when did you realize you were lonely', 'what does loneliness mean to you' and so on. This project has stopped as of now but it used to show weekly stories of how people see loneliness. The design of the website has a theme of some apartments with windows that could be clicked on, clicking on a window will allow viewers to see the stories submitted by people.

I got some inspiration and idea from this project. So, for now I thought of making the storyline for my project to start of with one character that is all by itself. The story behind it could be, for example, a character who is alone and needs someone to play with or something along the lines. Other people/viewers can engage in the project by answering questions that will be given. The questions would be in the form of a survey or quiz, the answers would be in objective format to make things more simple. People would need to answer the survey, then later based on the answers picked in the survey, certain elements like character accessories, clothes, or features would be added to the character template of their choice. The end result would be a character that the viewer themselves has created based on their own choices. The newly made character would act as a companion for the first lonely character mentioned above. As more and more people contribute to answering the surveys and making their characters, the main board (consisting of the 1st lonely character) would be filled up by new 'friends'.

I also thought of maybe making an online survey so that not only the creating characters part would be available to only the people who attends and witnesses the whole 'exhibition', I thought maybe I could also allow people from far away or other countries try to create their characters too. For this part I am still considering it.

For the next step would be making the idea for this more clearer and also thinking of the digital aspects for this project.
