Graphic Design in Context

Week 3  (05/05/2021)

This week I did a bit more research on police brutality and found out that one of the causes for such things to happen was because in some departments, officers were actually encouraged to use excessive force towards the suspect. Officers that use excessive force were even rewarded for doing so.

With that, I also came up with 7 slogans for my placard:

1. "Protect, Not Attack"

2. "We Exist, You Protect"

3. "Protect & Serve, Not Attack And Shoot"

4. "We're Not Your Training Dummy"

5. "Does This Look Suspicious?"

6. "We're Not Animals, You're Not Hunters"

7. "This Guy Seems Dangerous/Suspicious" -by Cop with a Gun.

I chose to stick with the slogan "Protect & Serve, Not Attack & Shoot". I also did 2 small sketches when I was thinking of the slogans.

​

My next step after this would be to look for a suitable typography for my placard and think of the colors and arrangements. I would also need to make around 15 or more sketches for this project.
