FOMO aka Fear Of Missing Out

For this project, I chose to research on the VCLP topic which was consumerism, more specifically false prosperity. With the research I had, it reminded me of FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). So, that's what inspired me to make for this project.

The purpose of this installation is to make others aware of what FOMO is and that it can happen to anyone without even them knowing about it. In what I researched, the behavior of FOMO can be commonly experienced or caused by social media. Seeing posts of new items, new trends, or friends having fun without that person would cause FOMO and some form of anxiety.

 

That explains why I chose to make it look like an Instagram page/post. I made it so that the comments and caption would change after a few seconds, firstly showing the comments of people then after that it would change into thinner fonts, showing the real thoughts and feelings of the commenter with FOMO.

While making this project I definitely learned many new skills, mostly with video editing as I had never done that before. I also learned many ways and techniques using photoshop. It was quite a fun experience though it can be stressful when something isn't working and I can't figure out the reason for that or how to fix it.

I had to make the 3D model for this too as I don't have the space and materials I need to make this project. So I did also learn a bit on how to use the "Blender" software. It was definitely a challenge even though all the 3D model was is just a rectangle with squares indents on them.
